Field Poppy
The seeds of Field Poppy
(Papaver rhoeas)
need a loose soil to germinate. That's why they grow in cereal fields plowed last winter or early in spring.
The seeds can lay dormant for years in the soil, to explode into flower when circumstances are favorable.
